I signed up for Google Offers in Miami this past December when they had a total of 2 Offers and was invited to test market Facebook Deals a couple of years ago. Both companies are in a big push to prove ROI. I’ve test marketed check-in rates to SMS text offers and have found a 40 to 1 redemption rate in favor of SMS. These new Facebook enhancements like adding “Offers” to the status bar and integrating offers in to Google Maps will make it easier for businesses to over deals. After Facebook’s IPO you can almost bet they will be charging to message your likes or fans.
