Property firm Strutt & Parker has launched a mobile site at m.struttandparker.com. The site, developed by multichannel agency, Balloon Dog, enables users to search for residential, commercial, farms and residential developments marketed by Strutt & Parker. It also includes a ‘lifestyle search’ to enable users to search for, say, waterfront properties, country houses or properties with swimming pools, tennis courts, equestrian, fishing or sporting facilities. It contains all the information contained on the desktop version, and also caters for those looking for property advice rather than just looking for properties.
Users can use the phone’s GPS to perform a radius search on their current location, or find their nearest Strutt & Parker office. They can also share property details via email and social media.
“With 90 per cent of property searches starting online, and an increasing proportion of this activity happening from mobile phones, we felt strongly that our online presence needed to suit the smaller screen,” said Strutt & Parker’s head of digital marketing, Kiersty Long. “So whether a buyer taps an NFC chip on one of our smart boards, scans a QR code on a window card or ad or is simply browsing the internet on their mobile phone, they will be able to read the information they are looking for without constantly having to zoom in and out on pages designed for desktops.”
Long said she is surprised that many property firms have chosen to develop iPhone apps rather than mobile-optimised sites. She said: “iPhone owners only make up a third of all smartphone users in the UK, so we wanted to develop a site that enables our clients’ properties to be viewed by all potential buyers and tenants, irrespective of the device they own.”
