The first two smartwatches based on Android Wear are shipping now. The Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch were formally shown off at Google I/O last month, with each device offering users access to Google’s vision of Android on your wrist.
Android Wear and its devices join a crowded, yet disparate market of smartwatch options. In addition to the Pebble and Samsung Gear line of wearables, everyone from Metawatch to Qualcomm to Sony have their wrists in this space. Interestingly, many of those systems are also based on Android.
