Last Friday, reports surfaced that tens of thousands of photos were leaked from a third-party Snapchat app. As we now know, more than 98,000 photos of users were taken from the now-defunct Snapsaved.com
Snapchat’s response was to blame its users and make it clear that the photos weren’t leaked from their own servers, they were snatched from a third-party site that violates its terms of use.
This isn’t the first time Snapchat’s security or its user privacy has come into question. In January, the service leaked 4.7 million usernames and phone numbers. The tone of company’s response left much to be desired. High school students — the same people that make up most of Snapchat’s user base — quickly found holes. Read more…
