Dish Network just signed a deal with Disney that gives the satellite-TV company the rights to re-transmit Disney content — which includes channels under the ABC, ESPN and Disney brands — over the Internet. As part of the agreement, Dish said its controversial AutoHop feature for skipping commercials will be disabled for much of that content.

Dish agreed to disable AutoHop, the signature feature of the company’s Hopper DVR, for Disney-owned content for a three-day period after a show is first broadcast. By sacrificing the feature, Dish will now be able to offer Disney’s content in an “Internet-delivered multichannel offering” that includes both live and on-demand TV. Read more…
